The New Zealand Space Health Research Network (NZSHRN), hosted by Waipapa Taumata Rau, the University of Auckland, is a national initiative dedicated to positioning New Zealand at the forefront of the evolving field of Space Health.

The Network was launched in 2024 at the annual New Zealand Aerospace Summit.

A multitude of disciplines are involved in the field of Space Health including Medicine, Bioengineering, Engineering, Biology and Chemistry.

The Network offers opportunities for students and researchers to join existing research within the Network or develop projects from the ground up. A multi-institutional collaboration enables shared resources and promotes individual centres areas of excellence.

A focus of the NZSHRN is on translational medicine – benefiting people on earth with the discoveries made in the advancement of Space exploration.
