Space Health is understanding the physiological changes that occur in Space travel and how to mitigate these effects.
The microgravity experienced in Space travel, living on a Space Station or Moon or Mars base leads to significant fluid shifts within the body, muscle loss and bone loss. The radiation encountered in Space without the Earth’s atmosphere can lead to carcinogenesis and immunosuppression. The isolation and distance can lead to mental health issues and time delays with Earth based advisors in Mission Control.
All of these issues and many more are important to understand in progressing human’s venture into Space.
